Cancer Registry 101

Description: Have you ever wondered what exactly a Cancer Registry Department does? This session will answer that question by providing an overview of the functions and purpose of the Cancer Registry Department.

Session Description: This session will explain the Cancer Registry Department purpose and procedures. A few of the key topics will include:

  • The requirements for reporting
  • The process used for cancer case abstracts
  • Accrediting bodies for cancer programs

Speaker: Mandi Kraushaar, RHIA, CTR is a 2011 graduate from IUPUI’s Heath Information Management program where she earned her RHIA. After graduation, she proceeded to work at Community Health and eventually landed in the Cancer Registry Department at Franciscan St. Francis Health where she earned her Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. Since 2014, she has worked at Registry Partners, where she is currently the Vice President of Registry Operation and oversees the management of numerous cancer registry contracts at various facilities across the United States.
