Description: Every healthcare professional has had to make quick adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coders and CDI professionals were certainly not left out. New ICD-10-CM codes were quickly implemented in April of 2020, with a consistent onslaught of new and revised coding guidelines, the addition of ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes when vaccines and treatments hit the market. As the medical community and scientists continue to learn more about COVID and its affects daily, the assignment of codes and clinical documentation continues to challenge coders and CDI professionals. This presentation provides the most up to date coding information, as well as case scenarios and resources.

Speaker: Linda Galocy, MS, RHIA, FAHIMA is the Assistant Dean and Program Chair, Health Information Management Programs. Ed.D. student in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University Bloomington. Holds a master’s degree in Adult Education and received her Bachelor of Science degree in health information administration at IUPUI. She is also a Fellow of AHIMA.
Linda has presented at several IHIMA and other national conferences in the past, is a contributing author to a colleague’s Intro to Radiography Technology and Patient Care on health information management topics and has been an editor for two other textbooks.
