Description: Health Information Management (HIM) is at the forefront of innovation at Community Health Network (CHNw), leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies to transform workflows, improve accuracy and efficiency, and enhance productivity. This presentation will share our journey of adopting AI-driven solutions across multiple domains, including clinical documentation integrity (CDI), autonomous coding, and integrated EHR AI tools. We will also highlight automation initiatives as well as the integration of Microsoft Copilot and Qualified Health to streamline communication, create work instructions, and boost team efficiency. A key component of our success has been Community’s AI governance structure, which ensures ethical, compliant, and effective implementation while promoting education and engagement across the organization. Attendees will gain insights into practical strategies, lessons learned, and measurable outcomes that demonstrate how HIM can lead in driving digital transformation. Join us to explore how AI and technology are shaping the future of HIM and empowering teams to deliver smarter, faster, and more reliable health information.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe how AI and technology solutions such as Iodine, Fathom, and Epic tools have transformed HIM workflows and improved operational performance.
2. Identify best practices for implementing autonomous coding and automation in areas like outpatient radiology, primary care, and ROI processes.
3. Understand the role of AI governance in ensuring ethical, compliant, and effective adoption of technology within healthcare organizations.
