What you Need to Know About Remote Patient Monitoring 2023

Description: Virtual care is exploding in health care primarily because of the Public Health Emergency. There is so much buzz right now about the new Remote Therapeutic Management CPT codes. But how do they differ with the Remote patient monitoring code? Remote patient monitoring will not go away after the PHE ends.

With so much growth in virtual patient sector, it is important to explore technology advancements for practitioners wanting to build or expand their own remote patient monitoring program and expand patient care to the patient’s they serve. Many practices are confused as to what is the difference between RPM and RTM? Both methods allow for measurement and secure transmission of vital data to the practitioner to manage the patient’s health in coordination with their care plan.

This interactive session will include an understanding of the difference between RPM and RTM. Technology requirements along with required transmitted information will be covered along with acceptable communication methods with the patient. This session will also cover the appropriate CPT codes along with CMS reimbursement rules for these services.

Deborah holds multiple coding certifications including Certified Professional Medical Auditor and is a certified Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner. Deborah brings over thirty-six years of healthcare industry experience as a practice administrator, medical record auditor, clinical documentation improvement practitioner, as well as a sought-after speaker and educator. She has works with a variety of medical specialties. She works with physicians, hospitals, and outpatient facilities both small and large and provides practice assessments, revenue cycle guidance, coding, auditing, CDI development, education, and project management. She also provides litigation support to attorneys nationally on behalf of their physician and health-system clients.

Deborah combines teaching with practical advice on coding and revenue cycle issues to many national organizations. She has numerous books and publishing credits including book publications for the American Medical Association and the Society for Critical Care Medicine She has also developed coding program curriculum for several organizations.

She currently serves on the ICD-10 Monitor Editorial Board and Indiana Health Information Management Association Executive Board of Directors as the treasurer. She is the 2017 AHIMA Triumph Literacy Legacy Award Recipient.
