Interview Skills Panel

Description: This presentation will cover interview skills for the student professional looking to land their first HIM job or any HIM professional looking to sharpen their interview skills. Speakers on this panel will include two managers, a recruiter, and a student who just went through the hiring process. The presentation will include topics such as resume building, effective communication, using the STAR technique, and much more.

Speakers:

Necole Coots, RHIA has worked in Health Information for more than 20 years. She is a 2008 graduate of the IUPUI School of Informatics.  Her roles have spanned a wide variety of areas within HIM. She has served for many years on the IHIMA board in positions including annual meeting co-chair, delegate and is the 2022-2023 President. She is currently the HIM Data Integrity Manager for Community Health Network.

 

 

 

Carly Cummings, RHIT is a recent graduate from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate of Science in Health Information Technology. After obtaining her associate's degree, Carly went on and obtained her RHIT certification. Carly is now working full-time with Community Health Network in three departments: release of information, transcription, and chart maintenance. She looks forward to learning more and developing her health information skills as she works and grows within Community Health Network.

 

 

Crystal Reed, MS, RHIT began her career in HIM as an ancillary and emergency room coder at a small critical access hospital. Her responsibilities included abstracting data to assign ICD codes and E&M codes. She later went on to become a medical records consultant for long term care and ambulatory surgery centers where she was responsible for reviewing medical records for compliance with state and federal regulations as well as accrediting body regulations.

Crystal was the full-time faculty and PPE coordinator for the Health Information Technology program at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis from 2016 to 2022. She also worked as an adjunct in the Health Information Administration program at IUPUI in 2022. She loves sharing her knowledge and experiences with students as she fosters their education.

Most recently, Crystal accepted a position with R1 RCM as the HIM Manager at the Ascension St. Vincent Stress Center and the Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center. She has been with R1 since November 2022. She has held various volunteer positions at IHIMA and is passionate about the future of the HIM profession.

 

Madison Schacht is the Manager of Talent Acquisition at That’s Good HR. Madison has worked with That’s Good HR since 2017. She started as a Recruiter, specializing in healthcare and accounting roles and now manages the recruiting team and oversee recruitment for all areas of the business. That’s Good HR staff for administrative, healthcare, accounting, and customer service roles.

In Madison's personal and professional life, she has always had a passion for serving others, helping individuals recognize their potential, and problem solving. Working with That’s Good HR has allowed her to help others find career opportunities and professional fulfillment.

Madison graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Communication. While in school, she was an active member of the Delta Zeta Sorority where she now serves as an Alumni Advisor.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family (husband: Devin, and bulldogs: Harry and Luna).
